Dans quelle mesure une communication adaptée peut-elle favoriser la prise en charge de la douleur lors d’un soin, chez l’enfant porteur d’un trouble du spectre de l’autisme ?
[…] Il ressort de cette enquête que la communication est une réelle difficulté pour les enfants autistes et pour les infirmières travaillant avec eux. De plus la douleur est une composante rendue difficile à aborder avec ces enfants, parce que la communication faible, inadaptée ou inexistante chez cette population d’enfants, ne permet pas forcément une bonne appréhension de la douleur. Cependant les infirmières rencontrées réussissent à mettre en place des aides pour pallier à ces difficultés.Pour finir, ce travail de recherche me permet de dire qu’une communication adaptée peut améliorer la gestion de la douleur chez certains enfants porteurs de troubles du spectre de l’autisme, et/ou aider à appréhender la douleur pour d’autres. D’autre part la communication adaptée est propre à chaque enfant, puisqu’elle répond aux besoins et aux capacités de chacun.

In what way can an appropriate communication encourage the management of pain during a nursing care of a child with autism spectrum disorder?
[…] The survey found that communication is a real challenge for children with autism and for nurses working with them. In addition, pain is a component that is difficult to address with these children, because poor, inadequate or non-existent communication among this population of children does not necessarily allow a good apprehension of pain. However, the nurses succeed in implement aids to overcome these difficulties.Finally, this research allows me to say that appropriate communication can improve pain management in some children with autism spectrum disorders, and/or help apprehend pain for others. On the other hand, appropriate communication is specific to each child, since it meets the needs and abilities of each child.
